“The all-inclusive aspect of (the Moon Palace Resort) allowing us to 'have, be and do' anything we want was a touch of genius, as it certainly expanded my mind.” – Kevin Tan, GIN Australia
Ska'nonh (Iriquois for “peace”). By all accounts, the Global Information Network 2016 Leadership Retreat was an uplifting, inspiring affair, full of energy, vision, family, friends, laughter, peace, education, and, of course, fun. As Ed Foreman says, “it just keeps getting gooder and gooder, better and better” as we made our home on the beaches of the Caribbean Sea at the all-inclusive luxury of the Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in tropical Cancun, Mexico. Advancing beyond expectations, this event was classified by many as the best GIN Event to date. What made this event so special? ’16 Leadership Retreat featured spectacular training and education, spiritual excursions, GIN Family and friends, dancing, fabulous dining, 3+ days of parties, a splash of champagne, the scent of ocean air, a swirl of gold, sand, surf, and sun.
The weekend officially started on Friday Night with a pre-General Session White Hot Welcome Reception, a spiritual ceremony and “words before all words” by Neal Powless and Michelle Schenandoah-Powless, followed by a song by Michelle Schenandoah-Powless and Diane Schenandoah (known as the Faithkeeper), action-packed General Sessions throughout the weekend, a spiritual excursion to the ruins at Tulum, “Find the Gold” party, our exclusive GIN Red Carpet, fire dancers, mariachi singers, keynote speaker Bryan Dodge, training and education by the one and only Earlene Vining and Ed Foreman, Blaine Athorn, Troy McClain, Don Colton, and an exclusive GIN Pool Party by the ocean to wrap up the entire event. Plus recognition of some of our most valued GIN Members as we brought some of our original GIN Founders on stage: Kim Ellis, Bob Shontz, Larry Palmer, and (representing their parents, Jacques and Linda Patenaude) Stéphane and Sîlvain Patenaude.
Relive this powerful moment in GIN history and set your intentions to make the next event as amazing as ever.

Leadership Retreat kicked off with a powerful and spiritual positive intention. As Neal Powless and Michelle Schenandoah Powless presented “the words before all words” to give thanks and bring all of the minds together as one. Neal profoundly stated, “Each and every one of you has a gift. That’s what makes you special and unique and no other person has your distinct set of gifts… We are all together as one in creation.” Michelle continued with, “The key element to understanding your relationship to mother earth is to understand your connection to women. Women have a distinct energetic connection to our mother earth, because the force of life passes through her to bring life into this world. We would not be here without that gift.” Michelle then brought up her mother, Diane Schenandoah, the FaithKeeper in the Oneida Clan and together they sang a traditional women’s dance song to pay respects to all women, to all of life, and to all generations yet unborn.
“We all need a source of inspiration to get to the next level of this life. That’s why the GIN Brother and Sisterhood is such an important aspect of our growth as human beings.” – Stéphane Patenaude
On Saturday during ’16 Leadership Retreat, many of us took an excursion to the ruins at Tulum, the ancient walled Mayan archaeological site. This cliff-top city and temple served for GIN as it did for the ancient Mayans, as a high vibrational spiritual location full of charm and honor. Those GIN Members who were qualified were treated to an incredible energetic experience: Sifu Stéphane Patenaude and his brother Sîlvain lead us in an energetic ritual and exercise designed to resonate the positive vibrations within us and release us into substantial spiritual growth.
Not only is Don Colton an inspired Master of Ceremonies, he is a dynamic trainer. As Blaine said of his MC duties, “He reminds me of Regis, he should be a game show host… he’s so funny!” On Sunday of ’16 Leadership Retreat, Don Colton took the stage to talk about how he, after all these years, is still taking copious notes during each GIN training session. Don shared his 35 year old notebook of listening to successful speakers like Zig Ziglar to Jim Rohn; from eliminating the words “I can’t” in your vocabulary to “teach by example,” Don’s notes are as relevant now as they were then. Most importantly, Don reminds us to take advantage of GIN to build your life and business.
When it comes to integrity, few walk the talk like our very own Troy McClain. As he continued to explore the roots of our training, Troy inspired, uplifted, and served the GIN Membership with his genuine style. From recognition to representing, Troy let his actions and words become pillars of our training. Troy McClain helped set the intention of the weekend and then allowed us to immerse in the magnificence of this amazing weekend.
Throughout the ’16 Leadership Retreat, Blaine Athorn graced the stage with his signature training, passion, and style. Leading Membership Recognition, teaching inspired lessons of success, and empowering our club to believe as we grow, Blaine created a momentum cycle of respect and trust. In the ultimate show of gratitude, Blaine brought on stage some of the original Founders of our club: Kim Ellis, Bob Shontz, Larry Palmer, and (representing their parents, Jacques and Linda Patenaude) Stéphane and Sîlvain Patenaude.
Participants of ’16 Leadership Retreat got a special surprise on Sunday morning, our very own Lindsay Erazo entered the stage to introduce Earlene Vining. In an impressive performance of her own, Lindsay gracefully set the intention for the day. Having been a leader in this club since “the beginning of the beginning,” Lindsay knows the true heartbeat of this club. As she introduced Earlene with integrity and elegance, we all lifted our heads higher and walked away better for having heard Lindsay give her energy to the Members of this club.
When it comes to success, confidence, and influence, there are few like the remarkable Earlene Vining. Earlene has singlehandedly built her own brand of success and aptitude. As our very own Lindsay Erazo said in her elegant introduction, “She has taught me that your words and appearance make an impression… Your smile is your trademark. She is strength, she is power, she is beauty; Earlene is one of the main reasons that we are still here today.” As she spoke on the ’16 Leadership Retreat stage, Earlene reminded us of how we can all aspire to do and be more. Earlene closed by sharing a personal success story of one of the GIN women she has been mentoring, the beautiful and elegant Esther Bourgon, who leapt beyond her fears and sang John Lennon’s “Imagine” live on stage.
When Ed Foreman is on stage, the GIN Membership base listens. Why? Because Ed Foreman is the ultimate authority on how to live life the right way and teaches us all how to be happy and “feel good now.” As he commanded the stage on Sunday of ’16 Leadership Retreat, Ed exclaimed the very profound statement, “Happiness will bring you everything. Happiness brings you health. Happiness brings you vitality. Happiness brings you life. GIN shows you the way to happiness.”
The flicker of the flashbulb pops as you strike a pose on the GIN Red Carpet on your way to the exquisite “Find the Gold” party. On Saturday night of ’16 Leadership Retreat, you dressed up in your finest outfit as you and the entire GIN populace laced gold throughout the ballroom. The iconic scene for '16 Leadership Retreat once again highlighted the beauty and glamour of all of our Members. You were the star of the show as the champagne poured and the fans adored.
